Handgun Repair Shop, Gunsmith for modern and antique handguns, rifles, and shotguns.
All labor will be billed at an hourly rate for the actual time involved in the services performed on your gun.
These prices are given as an estimate of the price range that one should expect, depending on the condition of the gun. Generally the lowest prices would apply to excellent condition modern guns, while the highest prices would occur with very poor condition guns or antiques that have not been serviced in a very long time.
Please keep in mind that there is a huge difference in working on new or like new condition guns compared to working on poor condition badly rusted guns that have the screws and pins rusted in place or the screw heads badly damaged. Removing minor rust pitting requires much more preparation work prior to the metal finishing. Working on the wood stocks, or grips, also have a range of prices considering that some gun stocks, or grips, are plain and not checkered while others are heavily checkered and have more curves and contours to work around. Don't forget the ding and scratch repairs.
The finishing prices will vary whether handguns or long guns and how much preparation is required. Some brands or types of specialty customizing hardware require much more machine and fitting work to install than others, such as different brands and types of recoil reducing devices.
Prices shown below are LABOR ESTIMATES based on hourly rate.
The final bill will have the parts cost, and the return shipping and handling, added to actual labor costs to do the repairs after repair work has been completed.
A price sampling, not intended as a total listing of all of the repairs that I do.
If you need repairs that are not listed below, or have questions contact Douglas E. Bates at,
Handgun Repair Shop 5956 Mayberry Road Singers Glen, Virginia 22850 Phone 540 833-2569 mail@handgunrepairshop.comIn some cases I can use my digital precision lathe and milling machine to make new replacement gun parts when obsolete or antique gun parts are unavailable. Examples of such gun parts are firing pins, cylinder pins, obsolete screws and pivot studs. In some cases a newer model part can be modified to fit an older model gun. I have also cut off worn hammer sear notches and TIG welded on a new tool steel section to repair an obsolete revolver hammer. This type of gun part making takes a considerable amount of time, so it is more expensive than purchasing original or replacement parts. This type of work will only be done on a materials plus labor basis, at a labor rate of $40.00 per hour, and $50.00 per hour for machine work and welding, billed in 15 minute increments.
